this is quite simply one of the most glorious records you will hear this year. it would be easy to lazily reference it against classic period rephlex/planet mu stuff (oops, i just did!), and indeed it appears to share some of the same heritage (even going so far as to feature a remix of rephlex artist global goon in its tracklisting) - but chris leary aka ochre is obviously a man on his own mission. gorgeously lush, but at the same time super-funky…as electronic as kraftwerk starring in a remake of tron, yet somehow as pastoral and organic as edward elgar…much like his label-mate ed chamberlain, leary manages that tricky task of being supremely technical in his programming and arrangements, but without losing the heart and soul of the music amidst all the studio trickery. you know that old chestnut often said when referring to vintage or classic music, >they dont make them like that any more<? well they do…and here it is! simply fantastic.

mit dada attack aka saulo pais geht die brasilianische herbstoffensive bei kompakt in die nächste runde! saulo ist kolportierterweise so etwas wie der brasilianische aphex twin. nun ja, weniger musikalisch betrachtet, als seine unorthodoxe technische herangehensweise betreffend. auch er findet grosse lust darin, synthesizer und drummachines aufzuschrauben und mit dem lötkolben zu bearbeiten. das ist für saulo pais selbstverständlicher teil des sounddesignes. Überhaupt, design ist für ihn eine interdisziplinäre grösse, an der er sich auch als architekt, maler und filmemacher abarbeitet. >clearly imply< ist ein ultra dynamischer technotrack mit kleinen (unterstellten) verneigungen in richtung dave clarks red serie, allerdings ohne dessen dampfhammer beat - statt dessen bleibt dada attack immer schön locker. gui boratto stellt mit seinem clearly imply remix wieder einmal seinen killerinstinkt unter beweis. das hier ist eine primetime bombe vom allerfeinsten. ein wunderbares beispiel, wie effizienz, intelligenz und geilheit - wenn vereint - jede tanzfläche auseinandernehmen können. wir recken die fäuste und freuen uns auf guis neues album im februar 2009

responsible for this tartelet release is debutant mhm one aka morten halborg-møller. he s a local lad from copenhagen who has decided to give something back to the world of electronic music that he loves so much. before he decided to sit in the producer chair, he spend huge amounts of time on his copenhagen based kill your telly promotion. a promotion which has more than 5 succesful years on it s back and has featured a huge tally of big name bookings. said promotion at which he started out his djing career resulting in him being one of the most sought after djs in denmark. being the creative and gifted spirit that he is, music and clubbing is not the only thing that keep him occupied. he also expresses himself via visual artwork earning the fourth spot in the renowned graphic art collective that is bottega areté.... and oh yeah ...did we mention what a nice bloke he is? a1: the a side features a funky little groover that will fit well into a club where punters prefer to dance. the track is build around a playful bassline hook accompanied by a simple and catchy vocal (by who made who member tomas hoffding) a really sweet minimal workout for sure, that really does the trick. b1: on the flip side we get served a dish of bass heavy house. this time it s dutch house supremo melon who sorts out the remix treatment and turns bubububadub into a tribal ish affair. suited for big clubs? check. sexy? check. playable? very much so.

like many of us over here at bear towers, giorgio sancristoforo aka tobor disco experience has an unhealthy interest in the 1970s - the instruments of bob moog, vocoders, alan parsons - the cult sci fi series space 1999 - and here hes used the decade as a sonic palette to create the kind of ep that gets the whole office (ie: both of us, on pcs at home, occasionally) sitting up and listening. opener disco moog has already been used on our rools for rules compilation earlier this year and had many beards twitching at the prospect of forthcoming vinyl. shooting star is a more uptempo affair with blissful chords, slap bass, disco handclaps and gios trademark vocoder. i feel loved is a personal favourite of stevie kotey with anthem written all over it. this awesome clavinet workout has such a good vibe about it you cant help feeling nothing but loved. it could easy be mistaken for alan hawkshaw super rare bruton library track.
